美軍宣佈F-15嚴重"缺陷" 凌空解體圖片令人心驚
美國空軍10日宣佈，眾多具有30多年「機齡」的F-15戰機存在嚴重「缺陷」，因此，有超過40%的F-15早期型號飛機將被「無限期停飛」。據悉，共有162架F-15戰機的機身金屬結構存在問題，有些太薄，有些又製作得過於粗糙。在幾十年的高強度飛行中，這些有問題的金屬結構逐漸顯示出來。
去年11月，一架F-15C戰機在訓練中解體，有關方面在調查後要求1978年到1985年生產的同類飛機全部停飛。這批飛機是由已經被波音公司收購的麥道公司生產的。美國空軍的224架F-15E飛機不存在金屬結構問題，故而繼續承擔戰鬥值班任務。此外，還有261架F-15早期型號飛機也在排除了故障隱患後重返藍天。
調查人員發現，除了原本存在質量問題外，在長期高強度的作戰和訓練過程中，F-15早期型號的金屬架構也會發生老化和位置移動，最終同樣會導致飛機在半空中突然解體墜毀。由於美國空軍無法迅速找到最初同麥道公司簽訂的供貨合同，因此暫時還無法向這些F-15戰機的生產廠家（波音公司）索賠。
在美國本土16個處於戰備狀態的防空基地中，許多基地只有F-15一種機型的戰鬥機。這種機型的戰機停飛讓許多基地暫時不能使用。一些州只得依賴鄰州的戰機進行防空，而阿拉斯加州只得依靠加拿大空軍進行防空。美國軍方發言人說，美國本土防空能力並沒有因此而被削弱，只是防空體系形勢變得「結構性吃緊」而已。
