《太鼓之達人 wii 大張旗鼓第二代》是繼熱賣 65 萬套的《太鼓之達人 wii》之後，再度推出的 wii 平台系列新作，承襲系列作基本玩法，並收錄新曲目與新模式。
遊戲同樣可以透過「每日挑戰道場」模式來挑戰每日課題，成功之後就可以逐步提升段位以及得到變裝道具。完成遊戲中許多任務也都可以拿到變裝道具。玩家可以使用這些變裝道具來裝扮出具備個人特色的小咚小喀，在跟朋友一起遊玩時展現給大家看。
曾經在 nds《太鼓之達人七島大冒險》中首次登場的「演奏對決」廣受玩家好評，這個模式也會經過強化再於本作中登場，玩家必須迴避敵人的干擾，努力獲得高分來打倒敵人。遊戲中收錄了各式各樣的頭目，層層的關卡提供更有挑戰性的玩法。
